Q&A


Can an athlete play more than one sport?

No, athletes are only permitted to participate in one sport.

What if I can’t make it to tryouts?

Please contact Tomas Glasermann (TomasG@marjcc.org) if you are unable to make the tryout of a specific sport.   

When will team announcements be?

Team announcements will happen on a rolling basis. Team announcements will be completed by late January. 

What if my teen is not a superstar athlete?

The JCC Maccabi Games offers a variety of choices for every teenager to participate.  In addition to team sports, consider an individual sport, or sign up for Bowling or to be a journalist in our Star Reporter program. 

Requirements to Participate

Athletes must be Jewish defined as:

  • Having at least one Jewish parent and the athlete is being raised Jewish.

Athletes must be:

  • Between the ages of 13-17 as of July 31, 2025 to participate

For Team Sports:

  • 15U AGE DIVISION – Athletes ages 13-15 are eligible to compete
  • 17U AGE DIVISION – Athletes ages 13-17 are eligible to compete
  • All interested participants who want to participate in the games must attend tryouts.

What if my teen attends summer camp?

We are well aware that many participants may be attending summer camps and may be away for part of the summer.  They will, however, miss team practices, socials and meetings related to the experience throughout the summer.  That being said, participants will be required to attend all JCC Maccabi experience activities from August 1-7, 2025.


We would want to remind everyone that each of us must adhere to the established protocols to minimize the risk of spreading COVID-19.  We love seeing you at the J, but please stay home and monitor symptoms for 14 days:

  • if you are experiencing any symptoms related to COVID-19, or
  • if you have come into direct contact with anyone who has tested positive for COVID-19, or
  • if anyone in your household is experiencing symptoms of COVID-19, or
  • if anyone in your household has come into direct contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19
